My own baking experiments & results

Phew! I’m glad I made it through last week! I spent so much time in the kitchen baking and cooking for various community events that I thought it would NEVER end!

First, I made cupcakes as a way of saying “thank you” to all the families who helped me throughout the school year volunteering with a fundraiser at my son’s pre-school.  Then I volunteered to provide all the desserts, snacks and drinks for “Special Person’s Day” for my older son’s class party because no other parents offered to organize or bring food.  Then I made 2 flourless chocolate tortes (my “signature” dessert!) for a neighborhood dinner party welcoming visitors from Andros Island to our community.  And finally, I made several vegetable side dishes for the Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet on Sunday.

And in between all of that, I also spent 2 days volunteering at the elementary school making hand-beaded jewelry with the Andros Island visitors and all of the students.  What a hectic week!

Throughout the whole week, I conducted several baking experiments of my own and learned a few things along the way.  Next up: I will write a separate blog entry to explain my experiments, as well as the results and recommendations I came up with.   I hope your baking experiments are more successful than mine!
